PCOS

PCOS effects 1 in 5 women. It can be an extremely frustrating g thing to deal with especially when trying to the find the root cause of your symptoms. It is misdiagnosed and dealt with horribly wrong by medical professionals everywhere. I was told to go on metformin(post coming later about this) a medicine that improves insulin sensitivity and blocks androgens among a few other things. It is not a great option for long term health. PCOS is not and should not be a general diagnosis with the same treatment plan for everyone. It is very specific to each person with the condition and does not mean you have ovarian cysts. Common Symptoms of PCOS: ⚡️Failure to ovulate regularly ⚡️Infertility ⚡️Insulin Resistance ⚡️Weight gain (especially around midsection) ⚡️Period irregularity or lack of menstruation ⚡️Elevated levels of androgens (Testosterone, DHEA, Androstenedione) ⚡️Inappropriate hair growth (Dark hairs, Hirsutism) ⚡️Acne (especially along jaw) ⚡️Hair loss ⚡️Ovarian cysts

Lab work considerations: ⚡️LH, FSH, DHEA ⚡️Free & total testosterone ⚡️Fasting glucose, fasting insulin, & HA1C ⚡️Also request a Transvaginal Pelvic Ultrasound

Naturally Healing/Managing PCOS: ⚡️Avoid hormone birth control usage - HBC prevents ovulation which is one of the root issues behind PCOS ⚡️Get 8-9 hours of sleep every single night ⚡️Minimize sugar, caffeine & alcohol consumption ⚡️Minimize gluten, dairy, soy, corn, processed foods ⚡️Consume 30-40g fiber daily & drink ample water and fluids ⚡️Consume plenty of cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, brussels) ⚡️Take down training volume & intensity. Take more rest days in the gym & consider switching modalities to something like yoga, bodybuilding, or lifting (vs. high-intensity modalities like CrossFit, Orange Theory, etc) ⚡️Optimize gut health via quality probiotics, fermented foods, bone broth, & collagen ⚡️Keep blood sugar balanced by eating at regular intervals during the day & get in a protein, carb, fat, & veggie at every meal ⚡️Reduce plastic exposure (tupperware, meal prep containers, water bottles) ⚡️Buy natural body care products and skin care

⚡️Supplementaion: B-complex, Zinc, Magnesium, Licorice, Peony, DIM

⚡️Reduce inflammation in your body (Turmeric is useful for this)

⚡️Manage Stress(Meditation, Prayer, Epsom salt baths, Yoga)
